Dental care can be traced back to ancient civilizations such as the Greeks, Egyptians, and Romans. They used materials such as crushed shells, ashes, and animal teeth to clean their teeth. Evidence also suggest they attempted tooth extractions and used herbal remedies for pain. Pierre Fauchard is often considered the "Father of Modern Dentistry" as his publications laid the foundation for newer techniques. Over time better anesthetic techniques and radiographs were developed. Technology is advancing at a rapid pace and now dental offices have digital imaging, lasers, computer aided design and manufacturing. It is exciting to see what the future will bring!
